| Editor's Note: We have asked our missionary in Jerusalem, Tony
Simon, to reconsider his use of the Jesus video in light of the Second
Commandment (which forbids images of God). He has written to us and
has agreed to pray about it. Please pray for Tony as he labors among many
new immigrants to Israel, from the former Soviet republics and Romania.
He has relied heavily on the video (filmed in Israel with Israeli actors)
based on the Gospel of Luke. It has been translated into both Hebrew
and Russian.
The response to the video has always been good, with many asking for
further information, gospel literature and Bibles.
But in light of the controversy over Mel Gibson's video (the Passion)
we were forced to re-examine our use of "Jesus" videos. My wife and I
decided they were in violation of the Second Commandment. We threw
them all away.
We have asked Tony to re-examine his position. We hope to be able to
continue to support him as he labors in Jerusalem. -- G.T. |
